Wondermart

by Silvia Mercuriali

in collaboration with artist/performer Matt Rudkin

and Tommaso Perego

Wondermart is a unique, interactive audio tour that takes you on a journey of rediscovery through the familiar surroundings of the supermarket. Wearing headphones and anonymous behind your trolley, you are guided around the aisles immersed in a private soundscape. The real blurs with the imaginary, and the every day setting of the ‘high density retail environment’ becomes the scene of strange adventures.

The soundtrack I composed is made of tunes and soundscapes rendered with spatial audio to give a better sense of the reality(irreality) of the acoustic spaces. Every element counterpoints the instructions of the text and contributes to create the sense of the scenes ufolding, confusing with fake fridge sounds or noises, introducing unexpected surreal sounds following Silvia’s imaginative text.

This is my first collaboration with Silvia for an autoteatro style performance, which continued then with The Eye and I Hear You See Me.
